Counted among the fey, or faerie creatures, these pixie-like beings exhibit an insect-like exterior. While their appearance may be disconcerting, nixad are known to be benign beings and are typically harmless unless provoked. Even when attacked, a nixad will evade conflict and seek to flee, like that of a typical animal. Harmless as they are, they also are capable of producing minor magical effects, and are seen as ideal pets or companions for adventurers. Agile, and resistant to magic, a nixad is often times more durable than any woodland creature.

Favored Pet. Sporting amber-hued bug-like wings, the sylvan nixad is easily spotted in the glades and meadows of the Gold Coast. Their gentle nature is a welcome sight when traveling through minotaur territories. While not capable of speaking common tongues, nixads are seen to exhibit a deep understanding of speech and compliance to orders when given by a creature that the nixad is subservient to. Once tamed, they make charming companions, loyal and easy to care for. Some even claim that they experience a shared symbiotic relationship with the pixie while in proximity to it.

Timid Fairies. The nixad are typically known to be averse to violence, much like that of a doe or a rabbit. A nixad will likely avoid conflict if given the chance to flee, but when back into a corner with no means of escape, the small pixie will make all attempts to protect itself from harm.

Variant: Nixad Familiar
Nixads are gentle and mischievous fey creatures that make ideal companions. These nixads have the following trait.

Familiar. The nixad can serve another creature as a familiar, forming a telepathic bond with its willing master. The nixad does not speak telepathically, but instead sends telepathic messages in the form of emotions. While the two are bonded, the master can sense what the nixad senses as long as they are within 1 mile of each other. While the nixad is within 10 feet of its master, the master shares the nixad's Magic Resistance and Spellcasting traits. If its master violates the terms of the contract, the nixad can end its service as a familiar, ending the telepathic bond
