Burning Hand Strike

3rd-level Way of the Goutfang feature

When you choose this tradition, you can channel the flow of your inner power to imbue your unarmed strikes with the essence of a fire. You gain the following benefits:

  • Ablaze. As a bonus action, you ignite your hands and feet to blaze with burning flames. These flames shed dim light in a 20-foot radius. You can extinguish these flames as a bonus action.
  • Flame Strike. When you damage a target with an unarmed strike while you are ablaze, you can change the damage type to fire.
  • Burning Touch. As an action, you can touch a flammable object that isn't being worn or carried by anyone else and set it on fire.
  • Practiced Coordination. When you grapple a target, you can make the check using your Agility (Acrobatics) instead of Strength (Athletics).
  • Flame Aura. While you are ablaze, when you use the Attack action to grapple a creature, the target takes fire damage equal to a roll of your Marital Arts die if your grapple check succeeds. If the target begins its turn grappled by you while your flames are ablaze, it takes this damage again.
  • Searing Blaze. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike while you are ablaze, you can spend 1 stamina point to deal extra fire damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die + your Willpower modifier. You can deal this extra damage only once per turn.

Fire Bolt Technique

3rd-level Way of the Goutfang feature

You gain a new attack option that you can use with the Attack action. This special attack is a ranged spell attack with a range of 30 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Willpower modifier to its attack and damage rolls. Its damage is fire, and its damage is equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die plus your Willpower modifier.

When you take the Attack action on your turn and use this special attack as part of it, you can spend 1 stamina point to make the special attack twice as a bonus action.

When you gain the Extra Attack feature, this special attack can be used for any of the attacks you make as part of the Attack action.

This special ranged spell attack's range increases by 30 when you reach 6th level (60 feet), 11th level (90 feet), and 17th level (120 feet).

Flash Surge

6th-level Way of the Goutfang feature

You gain the ability to channel your stamina into burning waves of energy. Immediately after you take the Attack action on your turn, you can spend 2 stamina points to cast the burning hands spell as a bonus action, using your Stamina save DC.

You can spend additional stamina points to cast burning hands as a higher level spell. Each additional stamina point you spend increases the spell's level by 1. The maximum number of stamina points (2 plus any additional points) that you can spend on the spell equals half your monk level.

Inner Flame Outer Strength

11th-level Way of the Goutfang feature

While your flames are ablaze from your Burning Hand Strike feature, you gain resistance to fire damage, as well as fire damage you deal from your Way of the Goutflame features ignore resistance.

While your Burning Hand Strike flames are ablaze, you gain the following benefit:

Deflect Damage. When you take damage from a melee attack within your reach while you are ablaze, you can use your reaction to deflect it. When you do so, the damage you take is reduced by 1d10 + your Willpower modifier (minimum reduction of 1), and the attacker takes fire damage equal to the amount that was reduced from the attack.

You can use this feature to deflect damage as a reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 2 stamina points to use this feature again.

Unleashed Inferno

17th-level Way of the Goutfang feature

If you have no more than half of your hit points left, you can unleash the fire from within and explode in an eruption of devastating destruction. As an action, you can spend 5 stamina points to cast fireball (without material components) as a 3rd-level spell centered on yourself, using your stamina save DC.

You can spend additional stamina points to cast fireball as a higher level spell. Each additional stamina point you spend increases the spell's level by 1. The maximum number of stamina points (5 plus any additional points) that you can spend on the spell equals half your monk level.
